Dear Los Angeles County Pastor:
I would like to thank you for your interest in Keeping the little cross in the Los Angeles County seal.
If you are planning to have your congregation sign the petition to keep the little cross in the Los Angeles County seal, here is what you need to do.
Additional Instructions for Churchs collecting signatures from groups.
The PDF version of the petition provided by the proponent David R. Hernandez Jr., seems to have been made so that voters could print out the petition at home, sign it and return
it. But, it has been rather confusing for those of us who want to gather signatures at a large gathering where we will get more than 6 signatures. We have written these instruction for that kind of situation.
The pages are numbered two different ways. The PDF has a set of numbers that is different then the numbers on the pages themselves. That is because there is an instruction cover page. We will be primarily referring to the page numbers on the
pages themselves and will use the PDF page number when necessary.
01. Print out the whole petition. You will need most of the pages. The only pages you can skip are the PDF page 1 "Instructions" and the pages with 6 and 7 on the bottom
(PDF pages 7and 8). You will need one copy of the signature page (i.e. pages with 5, 6 or 7 on the bottom) to make copies from (this is PDF page 6, 7 or 8).
02. You need at least one copy of pages 1 thru 4 because these are the legalese of the petition. Anyone asking to see the details of the petition should be able to see it.
03. The other form that you will need is page 8 the circulator form (PDF page 9). This form needs to be filled out by the individuals that is standing there getting the signatures. You must be a registered voter in Los Angeles County to
collect signatures. Make sure you complete this document or the signatures will not be valid.
04. The form that voters need to sign is page 5, 6 and 7 (PDF pages 6, 7 and 8). Print as many of this page as you need. As you can see there is only a place for two signatures, so you will need a number of copies. Do not alter these pages and
try to make clean copies. Do not write on the back of these forms and do not try to save paper by using both sides, this will only disqualify them.
If you will be collecting signatures of your congregation on Sunday, February 20, 2005 then please mail the above two documents no later than Tuesday, February 22, 2005 to:
