Christmas Letter 2002
From: Robert & Gail Colaco

Dear Friends:
The very first thing that I would like to share with you is our prayer that you and yours have a Merry Christmas and a very blessed New Year in 2003.
In the year 2001 I began for the first time writing a Christmas Letter to our friends and members, from Gail and I. I must tell you that I really enjoy reading Christmas Letters from friends. The ones that I enjoy the most are those that give me a view
of the personal lives of those writing that letter.
I have been told on numerous occasions that I am very open about my communication about my personal life. I believe that public individuals like myself, have a difficult decision to make when they get involved in politics. They can decide to be open
or closed. They can decide to be very secretive or reasonably open. I decided many years ago to be reasonably open.
As many of you know, God has not blessed Gail and I with any children. Both of us greatly enjoy children, whether those in our extended family or those that are in our lives through church and friends. So, our lives are perhaps different from many of
you reading this letter. While most Christmas Letters are about the family, mine is about our passion, “Citizens For A Better America ®.”
By the way, for those of you that are not on the Internet or newly on the Internet, any time you see anything that begins with http://www.cfaba.org/ it means that it goes to our main Internet Website or one of its
pages. If your are reading this letter on the Internet then you can just click on that link and it will take you directly to that webpage.
As those of you that have been entrepreneurs know, having begun your own businesses or been founders of organizations, you know that when you do begin either a business or an organization that it takes just about all of your hours and energy. That is
certainly the case for us. We started our own bookkeeping business as a couple in 1986, two years after getting married on August 4, 1984. We started with just the two of us working but quickly needed to hired employees, and then we went on to
incorporate. We had our bookkeeping and tax preparation corporation until 1992. We then began a husband and wife sole proprietorship on May 8, 1992. This time just doing the work ourselves without any employees. From 1992 to current we have been doing
bookkeeping and handling tax issues for small businesses just as we did from 1986 to 1992.
As if that was not enough entrepreneurial activity for me to be involved in, I began running for Congress immediately after the 1988 presidential election, when George Herbert Walker Bush (SR.) was elected to replace President Ronald Reagan who had
served for eight (8) years and could not run for another term, just for the record, we support term limits of two (2) four year terms for our Presidents.
After my primary election defeat of June 5, 1992, when I ran as a Republican candidate for the 24th Congressional District of California along with eight (8) other Republicans to unseat Democrat Congressman Anthony C. Beilenson, I decided to take what
I learned from being a candidate for 3 1/2 years and apply it to a political organization. On October 15, 1992 I began Citizens For A Better America®.
I have said many times in the past that I volunteer as the National Chairman. My bookkeeping business which has been how we have taken care of our personal needs began as my full time work but has over the last ten (10) years become less and less my
full time work while building Citizens For A Better America® has become an almost more than full time endeavor. This last year that has been especially true.
In July 2002, I found out that one of our bookkeeping clients, was after many years, selling his business and that would mean that we would be loosing a significant amount of our consistent monthly revenues. This meant that I had a decision to make,
that of getting more bookkeeping clients like I had done back in 1993 or that of doing a better job in being able to elect more morality and values based candidates by increasing and improving our fund raising so that when we do find candidate(s) that we
can endorse we will then be able to have the financial resources to get them elected.
One main reason for increasing our fund raising is so that Gail and I would not have to loan Citizens For A Better America® any additional funds and that Citizens For A Better America® would be able to pay its bills as well as repay loans that Gail
and I have made over the last ten (10) years.
If I am focused on getting new bookkeeping clients like I did in 1993, then Citizens For A Better America® will have to be set aside for a while. From December 1992 to February 1993 we had lost eighty five percent (85%) of our bookkeeping business’s
monthly revenue because of the Los Angeles riots of 1992 and the national bad economy. Back in 1993 our lives were considerably different than they are now and we did not have a choice. Now we have a choice. We have a choice because we do not have
personal debt, etc.
Really the issue for me is, that I believe in Citizens For A Better America® and I want it to succeed in its mission. To do that it is going to take my focusing fully on the organization. That is exactly what I have been doing.
One of the great challenges for the year 2002 that took a great deal of my time and that of Congressman Bill Dannemeyer, our Honorary National Chairman was working through what questions we needed to add to our Questionnaire as a result of all the
events of 9/11. The year 2002 saw more visits to meet with Congressman Dannemeyer in Orange County, California, than any other year since he became our Honorary National Chairman in July 1994. For the March 2002 primary elections we added six (6) new
questions. For the November 2002 general elections we added an additional seven (7) new questions.
It was important to take the time to develop these new questions because we need to know what the Core Beliefs of the candidates are. The events of 9/11 and subsequent actions by the George W. Bush Administration as well as the Congress since then
have had as big a change to our country as did the attack on Pearl Harbor. It appears that Americans have been so afraid about their personal safety that they have not considered the personal freedoms they are easily surrendering. Also, they are not
demanding change in areas that can really have an effect on our security such as eliminating N.A.F.T.A, North American Free Trade Agreement.
It is really critical for Citizens For A Better America® and those that have put their trust and confidence in this organization to be really convinced that our endorsed candidates will be pro America first, pro traditional family, pro life, pro 2nd
amendment, pro USA sovereignty, pro constitutional candidates even post 9/11.
I believe, because of all that is taking place politically in America as we come to the end of 2002, we need to be able to focus on doing all that we can do to elect morality and values based candidates all over the United States of America. I also
think that this is an excellent time to seek new members. It appears that folks all across America are concerned about the survival of the United States of America and our way of life. People seem to have a concern over political issues that honestly I
have not seen since I founded Citizens For A Better America®, CFABA.ORG on October 15, 1992.
One way I can see that increased interest is by looking at the activity our Internet Websites receive. For those of you that have been on the Internet for a while, you know that many Internet Websites gather statistics about the activity their
Internet website receives. While we do not know the identity of the folks surfing our site, and that is a good thing, we do know the page or website they came from and which page(s) they went to. We alsoknow what search terms or words they used to find
our site if they found us using a search engine.
For the year 2002 we are planning to post our Christmas Letter on our Internet Websites, and to send a physical copy only to our members. Non members like many on our “Commentary And News Release List”™ will just receive an invitation to our website
where they can view this Christmas Letter for 2002 online.
When I wrote our Christmas Letter for 2001, we did not plan to post it to our Internet Websites. However, because I wrote an article entitled:
“THE LIE:
Christians can not affect America by our prayers.
WRONG!"
http://www.cfaba.org/cf06004.htm. I decided to add it to our website because the Christmas Letter for 2001 was directly related to the issue I was addressing. You can read my Christmas Letter for 2001 at http://www.cfaba.org/cf06006.htm.
For the first half of the month of December 2002, out of the dozens of subjects that people are looking for on our Internet Website the term “Christmas letter,” was the number one requested search term and that was before this letter was posted. The
amazing part of these statistics is that for the first time in months and months this search term has beaten out the other highest term that we have consistently had on our Websites which is, “homosexual marriage” or some derivative of that phrase. That
is what has lead me to want to post this 2002 Christmas Letter to our website.
In addition I am so excited to be able to tell you and our members for the very first time in our history, our main Internet website http://www.CFABA.org, in November 2002 had the highest number of hits, in a single
month. With a “Total Hits” of 29,840. The days in November with the highest traffic are right around the 5th of November, election day. On election day itself we had 7672 hits alone. That is so exciting because this tells us folks are coming to our site
to find out information regarding elections and we are getting to tell them who the candidates are that we have endorsed.
I would really like to thank you for taking the time to read this very special Christmas Letter for 2002. You may already be aware that individuals that run Non-Profit as well as Political Organizations attempt to raise money by selling their
articles. I would rather give you a list of the “Top 30" out of 185 pages or URL’s that folks like to view on our main Internet Website of CFABA.ORG , as a gift.
So, below is my gift to you, free for you to enjoy. A list of the “Top 30" pages most viewed at our website CFABA.ORG. I hope and pray that you will enjoy it as much as the ten of thousands of individuals
that have come to our website before you.
While I am not going to sell you access to our articles, I do hope and pray that you will seriously consider sending us a contribution of any amount to PO BOX 7647, Van Nuys, CA 91409-7647, made payable to Citizens For A Better America®. If you can
even send it so that we can receive it before 12/31/2002 that would be great.
Please consider giving membership in Citizens For A Better America® as a Christmas Gift this year. Below is a card that you can print out, fold and send explaining that “In lieu of a gift this year
I’ve made a donation to Citizens For A Better America ® in your name.” For our members, receiving this as a physical copy, I have enclosed preprinted cards for you.
Members of our organization receive something that no one else receives. They receive “The Good News Report,” ™. Just like it sounds, this report is the good news about our, Endorsed Candidates, candidates that we have put on our “Good Guys List,”™.
You can find candidates that we have put on that list by going to our website of: http://www.GoodGuysList.org. As well as about Commentaries and News Releases============ that we have written and “HAVE YOU BEEN
LIED TO?” ™ flyer articles printed in our flyer around election times and then published in our Internet website of: http://www.HaveYouBeenLiedTo.org.
For those that are my Christian friends that know about the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA.ORG) we have something equvilavent, some might think better. All our financial reports are posted on the Internet by the FEC.gov at: http://herndon1.sdrdc.com/cgi-bin/fecimg/?C00278333
I am thrilled that from January 2002 to December 2002, as of going to print on this letter, we have had over 152,000 hits. It is almost hard for me to believe that we have had such impact on the Internet, I thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whose
birthday we are celebrating this December 25th. Without Him I could not have done all that we have done this year with your Citizens For A Better America ®. Once again Merry Christmas.
May God Bless You and your family and May God Bless our beloved United States of America.
Sincerely,
