Citizens For A Better America ® announces its endorsements for the May 5, 1998 Ohio primary.
Citizens For A Better America a national, grassroots, non-connected, independent political committee announces its endorsement of local candidate:
Joe Slovenec, Candidate for U.S. Representative in Ohio’s 10th Congressional District for the May 5th, 1998 primary election.
As Robert Colaco, national chairman of Citizens For A Better America stated in his letter to the candidate:
“If elected you will have the responsibilities of making appointments, of hiring staff, as well as, of writing and voting on legislation. Citizens For A Better America looks for men and women who will be consistent not only in what they say during their
campaign, but consistent in their voting, hiring practices and their appointments. We believe character is developed over a lifetime not just during the campaign cycle.
Because we believe we can count on you to show this kind of consistency. It is obvious from your answers to our Candidate Questionnaire and our phone conversation together that you understand the challenges facing the families in your district, county,
state and across America.
Because of your desire to return America back to it’s foundation of morality and values, we are proud to endorse you."
Citizens For A Better America is not controlled or authorized by any political party, candidate, labor union or corporation. It is a committee of caring Americans united to work to see America become a better place for them and their children.

During a March 6th, 1998 phone conversation with Karen Little of the Election Division of Ohio’s Secretary of State’s, Robert Colaco confirmed that Ohio does not maintain phone numbers of the candidates for office.
“We are extremely disappointed that the State of Ohio’s Secretary of State’s Office does not maintain phone numbers for candidates,” said Colaco. “Political leaders all over America from the President on down are constantly talking about how more and
more of the citizenry needs to be involved in the political process. The U.S. Congress passed and the President signed into law ‘The motor voter law’ so that more citizens can be registered to vote and be involved in the voting process, but Ohio is
discouraging voters by not publishing the candidates phone numbers,” said Robert Colaco, national chairman of Citizens For A Better America.
“I would challenge all the political leaders of the State of Ohio to follow through by giving the citizenry of Ohio easier ways to contact the candidates that are seeking their votes, than just by having to write those candidates letters,” said Colaco.
“There may need to be a change made as far as state law to allow the request for more information on candidate filing forms. If state law needs to be changed or filing forms need to be changed why not come into the 21st century by not only adding phone
numbers but also fax number, e-mail address, website address,” said Colaco. “Ultimately, this request for this information can even be voluntary as is the case right now in many states around America.”
