Information on the Revision to the Texas Endorsement List.
Editors Note: Citizens For A Better America TM made a revision to its endorsement list for the Texas 1998 primary.
The News Release that was faxed out to our "Commentary and News Release List"™ listed Betty Brown, Republican Candidate for State Representative, District 4. Mrs. Brown asked us to remove her from our endorsement list late Friday
night, after she was notified that we had completed faxing out to our "Commentary and News Release List"™. We did remove her and that change was reflected in the e-mail version that was sent to our "Commentary and News Release
List"™. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
Mrs. Brown like all the other endorsed candidates was informed when we endorsed her that we would be faxing and e-mailing to our "Commentary and News Release List"™ a News Release of our endorsements for the Texas 1998 primary. She,
like the other candidates we had endorsed, were among the first to receive by fax a copy of the News Release announcing our endorsements for the Texas 1998 primary.
Although we have spoken with Mrs. Brown regarding this matter we still remain somewhat confused as to all her reasons for wanting her endorsement withdrawn. It seems she was willing to be endorsed alone but was unhappy about appearing listed with the
other candidates we had endorsed. It did not seem to be a problem that we had endorsed a Democrat but that there was a fellow Republican that Mrs. Brown did not want to be identified with. Mrs. Brown did request a candidate questionnaire for the 1998
general election and was interested in seeking our endorsement for that election.
To help prevent the recurrence of such an incident in the future we have made it a point to really emphasize to the candidates we endorse that they will appear listed along with other candidates that we endorse. We have never hidden this fact;
candidates have always been aware they would be listed on our Endorsed Candidates - "Good Guys List"™ with other candidates. One way we are emphasizing this to the candidates is in the introduction to our
Candidate Questionnaire. There is now a paragraph that reads as follows:
"If we endorse you, your name is automatically placed on our "GOOD GUYS LIST" ™. You will appear listed with the other candidates we have endorsed. This is our list of endorsements. You may or may not have endorsed others that appear on
the list. Since we can endorse candidates from all political parties, candidates may appear on the list from a party other than yours. Citizens For A Better America ™ leadership controls all endorsements and the content of everything we publish and
distribute not the candidate."
Mrs. Brown was officially dropped from our "Good Guys List"™ at her request. As a result of this we have not posted any of her contact information on this website. It is our policy to only post contact information for the candidates we have listed on
our "Good Guys List"™ and then only with their permission.
